Meet PICA at Chesapeake Tri-Con 2025 Conference in Ocean City, Maryland, August 26-29

PICA Corp is excited to announce our participation in the Chesapeake Tri-Association Conference (Tri-Con 2025), taking place August 26–29, 2025 in Ocean City, Maryland.

This premier regional event brings together water, wastewater, and stormwater professionals from across the Mid-Atlantic to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and strengthen the future of water infrastructure.

We are proud to highlight that Ryan Burns, PICA’s Regional Business Development Manager, will present an innovative case study on pipeline inspection using rope access techniques.

His presentation, “An Innovative Approach to Pump Station Piping Inspections Using Rope Access,” highlights how utilities can overcome challenges like confined spaces, flooded vaults, and elevated columns where traditional access methods (scaffolding or lifts) are unsafe or cost-prohibitive

Ryan explains how rope access—a globally recognized, IRATA- and SPRAT-certified method—enables safe, efficient, and cost-effective access to complex infrastructure. By combining rope access with advanced NDT technologies such as the Bare Pipe Bracelet Probe™ (eddy current), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing, Guided Wave Testing, and Visual Inspection, PICA delivered full coverage assessments of pump station piping with minimal operational disruption.

The results demonstrated significant benefits for asset owners: faster inspections, reduced costs, built-in safety and rescue plans, and comprehensive data on corrosion, pitting, and wall thickness. Ryan’s presentation will showcase how utilities can adapt non-destructive testing (NDT) and rope access solutions to extend pipeline life, improve safety, and reduce long-term maintenance costs
